What to practise today? Let Review mode choose a set

Picked up your instrument, then spent ten minutes deciding what to play? Review mode draws a set from songs you've practised or loops you've saved. You choose which library categories or folders it can draw from; it chooses the next set within that scope. You can start playing without making a new list each day.

Choose where Review can look

Organise your library around what you actually work on: perhaps a setlist, older songs and ideas for a jam. You can move an added YouTube song between library categories. When adding your own audio or video file, you can choose a local folder. Review loops and Review songs have separate Scope settings. Open the relevant tab and select one or more categories or folders. Without narrowing the scope, that entry draws from all its eligible material.

A folder is not a daily quota. Select only your setlist when a performance is coming up, or include older material when you want more variety. You still decide what is worth keeping in your library; Review saves you from choosing every item before you begin.

Review songs or saved loops

Both entries live in Review mode, but they select different units: a song or a passage within one. A saved loop does not need to be marked again. If you want to work on a song rather than a saved passage, you do not have to make a loop first.

Smart or Random order

The default Smart order uses your existing practice history to choose the next set. Choose Random when you want to shuffle the eligible material instead. Neither mode listens to your playing or grades your accuracy.

For example, to revisit your setlist and older songs, select those two scopes on the Songs tab, then start Review songs. To return to short passages you've saved, use Review loops and its own scope settings.

Practice time stays with the song

Time you actually spend practising through Review enters your practice record under the corresponding song. If you need to slow a passage down or build speed gradually, adjust the practice to what you can play today rather than pushing through the queue.

Review songs, Review loops and ordinary practice records are free; none requires Pro. Without signing in, records mainly stay in this browser. A free account lets your practice history follow you between devices.

Questions about Review mode

What is the difference between Smart and Random?

Smart uses practice history when choosing the order. Random shuffles the eligible items within your selected scope.

Can I review only certain folders?

Yes. Select one or more scopes in the relevant Loops or Songs settings. YouTube songs use library categories; your own audio or video files use local folders.

Can I use Review before I have five named loops?

You can use Review songs once songs have practice history. Review loops unlocks after five loops you named yourself have been saved.

Put the songs you want to revisit into useful categories or folders. Next time you are unsure what to practise, choose a scope and let Review mode pick a set.
