Make a backing track from a chord progression

No recording needed and no video to find. Enter the chords you want to practise, choose a style and set the tempo. Quick Jam plays them with a band on a loop, so you can work on a chord change, accompaniment or an improvisation without hunting for a track in the right key. While the band plays, your practice time is automatically added to your practice record.

Build the loop you need

  1. Start with a style or choose your own chords. Begin with one of ten ready-made style cards. Choose a key and major or minor, then change chords bar by bar. Name and save a version you like as your own Jam, with up to sixteen bars.
  2. Set the tempo. Slow it down until the changes are clean. If you want to build up gradually, turn on Auto speed-up and set how the BPM rises as the loop repeats.
  3. Shape the band. Drums, bass, keys and guitar have separate mute, solo and volume controls. For example, mute the guitar to practise your own accompaniment over the rhythm section.

This is a silent preview of the controls, not an audio player. In the app, Quick Jam plays the band and lets you save up to 24 named Jams. The feature still carries a beta badge.

Which practice problem does it solve?

For a change that keeps tripping you up, make a short loop containing just those chords. To practise improvising, keep the progression running and change the style or tempo. You can also solo the bass to hear the harmonic movement before bringing the rest of the band back.

You supply the chords. Quick Jam does not listen to a song or identify its harmony. It makes a new accompaniment from the progression you enter. If you instead have a recording and want to remove or hear one part, audio track separation is a different, Pro feature for files you have the right to process. It does not work on YouTube videos; those can still be looped and slowed down for practice.

Free to play and save

Quick Jam is free without an account. The styles, chord editor, tempo, Auto speed-up, mixer and saved Jams do not require Pro. Pauses do not count toward practice time.

Guests can save Jams in this browser. If you sign up in the same browser, you can keep using those Jams here. A free account lets you view your practice history across devices.

FAQ

Do I need to know the chords first?

To enter your own progression, yes. Or start with a style card's ready-made progression and change it as you learn.

Can I use a full song recording?

Quick Jam starts from chords, not a recording. To practise with a recording you own or are authorised to process, see audio track separation.

Can I practise on my phone?

Yes. Open Quick Jam in the browser on your phone; no separate video or audio file is needed.

Can I save a Jam without signing up?

Yes. Guests can name and save up to 24 Jams in this browser.
